The NFL released its 2020 schedule last week in hopes of playing out a full season amid the coronavirus pandemic. While the league expects to play out the games, it is unclear if teams will play in their home stadiums or whether fans will be allowed to attend.
Despite the uncertainty, many teams are still offering season ticket plans, and some teams have put single-game tickets on sale. Ticket search engine site TicketIQ has been monitoring the secondary market for tickets and released data on how much fans are willing to pay to see their favorite teams play.
The biggest drop in ticket prices belongs to the Tom Brady-less New England Patriots. The average cost of a Patriots ticket this year is $433, a whopping 39% drop from 2019. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw a 135% increase thanks to the addition of Brady on their team, as well as his favorite target, tight end Rob Gronkowski.
The largest increase went to the Las Vegas Raiders, who are opening a brand new stadium in their new home city. They saw a 527% increase, with the average ticket costing nearly $1,100, which is tops in the league. The most expensive game for the 2020 season also belongs to the Raiders. Tickets for their September 21 matchup against the New Orleans Saints are averaging $2,268.
If games end up being canceled, moved, or played without any fans in the stadium, the league said all 32 teams have contingency plans in place.
The NFL season is scheduled to kick-off on Thursday, September 10, when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans.
