Dan Patrick:"There is a faction of NBA players who are concerned about playing. I thought the NBA was all buttoned up...I thought we were playing basketball at the end of July. Is the bubble safer than not being in the bubble? Does Gregg Popovich, at age 71, get to coach? James Harden has asthma...is that an issue? Do they play the anthem before the games and is that part of the TV coverage? What about players whose partners are pregnant? The NBA might lock reporters for 3 and 1/2 months! There are a lot of questions here and you've got some bigger names who are starting to question this. Carmelo Anthony isn't sure about it. It felt like the NBA had all the answers and it feels like they're not close. As much as we want to think the NBA will come back at the end of July...they might be. But then, they might not be. They had it all planned out and we thought they had these things covered."
The NBA appeared set to return at the end of July but due to multiple reports that players are concerned, Dan Patrick has grown doubtful that the 2020 season will resume at all. There are numerous questions still be answered regarding protocol amid the coronavirus pandemic and Dan isn't certain the league will follow through with their July 31st return date.
