Colin Cowherd's Top 10 Football Coaches to Build an NFL Franchise Around

Colin Cowherd's Top 10 Football Coaches You Would Most Want to Build an NFL Franchise Around.

10. Mike Tomlin

“He’s great with players and he’s still only 48 years old. He’s got the second most wins since he’s been hired in the NFL to Bill Belichick. You don’t always love what he’s done in the postseason but he’s got a couple of Super Bowls. He’s got 10+ wins in 8 of his 13 seasons, and he dominates his rivals Cleveland and Cincinnati. Tomlin is built for the future of the NFL, players like him, and he has also shown he can deal with drama in an NFL locker room. It blows up a lot of teams but it never blows up Mike Tomlin. He is the best coach at a podium in league history and there is no second place.”

9. Urban Meyer

“Urban Meyer, who has been fishing around the NFL for a while, asking a lot of questions, and going to games, is fascinating. After Saban, he’s the greatest college football coach of all time. He’s one of only 3 coaches to lead multipole teams to national championships. Meyer is in his mid-50’s and I think he’s real tasty. I think he cares now, and has got 10 more years to coach. I don’t think he’s going to end his career as an administrator and a broadcaster.”

8. Lincoln Riley

“He’s the best young offensive coach in football and I would roll the dice with him. Where I can like Mike Tomlin and he’s got Super Bowls, there are also things about Tomlin – a lack of details – that drives me nuts. This kid is a details freak and I honestly think Lincoln Riley is unbelievable. They hired him at 33 years old, and out of all the history at Oklahoma, he had the best record in the first three years. What is the thing he’s best at? Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts – he is the quarterback whisperer. This is who I would have hired if I was the Dallas Cowboys and I don’t care how much it would have cost.”
