The NFL is back, and that makes Clay Travis one happy man. After months and months of no sports, and doubt among many in the sports media, the NFL made their return, with some fans, in Kansas City last night as the Chiefs handled the Houston Texans with relative ease.
Clay believes that last night's game went about as well as possible for the NFL. Clay puts out a poll question, asking his audience what letter grade they would give the NFL for last night's season opener. He asks that same question of the crew, and it's nearly a unanimous A letter grade for the members of the show.
Clay then takes a few callers to get some direct feedback from the Outkick audience. The first caller is a man from Kansas City who was at the game Thursday night. Clay asks him a number of questions about the overall game experience, and the Chiefs fan also goes into a little detail regarding the pregame situation.
Many people thought that the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium were booing the moment of unity between the two teams prior to kickoff, but the Kansas City fan explains that the crowd was simply booing the opposing Texans team, as they had just run out of the locker room 20 seconds prior to the moment of unity in the middle of the field.
Clay says that this aspect of last night's game will get overplayed by the woke sports media, but overall, the NFL has got to be pretty pleased with the season opener overall. Let's hope the rest of the season can go just as smoothly as last night.
