Colin Cowherd: “Philadelphia was just trying to salvage a tie yesterday. Nothing went right, yhe quarterback was awful, you lost another offensive line starter, none of your wide receivers are healthy, let’s just get the hell out of here with a tie. In the NFC East, ties are better than losses because everybody in the division is losing… Everybody in Philadelphia, and this is what they do, wants to bang on Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson, who out-coached Bill Belichick in the Super Bowl, because they decided to ‘salvage’ the game by punting and not kicking the game-winning field goal… Folks, if you missed, and you probably would have, Joe Burrow gets the football and has to complete one ball for 12 yards, which if we you watch Joe Burrow he’s really capable of doing, and then you walk out with a loss. The NFC is TERRIBLE, you can literally win the NFC East and not get your act together until Week 12… Ya know, like LAST YEAR. You’re going to win this division at potentially 7-8-1, or 8-7-1. Nothing was going right, they couldn’t get their act together, and were struggling everywhere. I got news for you folks, it feels a lot better tying than losing. Maybe in another you go for it, but that’s not this division. SEVEN wins might win this division.” (Full Segment Above)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he’s not blaming Eagles head coach Doug Pederson for not attempting a game-winning 64-yard field goal with 19 seconds left in overtime versus the Bengals on Sunday.
The team trotted out kicker Jake Elliott for a 59-yarder until a false start penalty against Philly foiled that plan. Philly then decided to punt the football, and effectively guarantee a tie game result versus the winless Cincinnati Bengals.
Check out the video above as Cowherd details why Pederson made the best move for the team by salvaging the tie, which Colin says is not even that bad of a result in one of the worst divisions in NFL history, the 2020 NFC East.
