Rams at Dolphins (SPREAD: LAR -4)
“I think Miami is in a great spot here, and I’ll take the Dolphins +4 in what I think is going to be kind of an ugly football game. After playing a Monday Night Football game, the Rams have to fly East and play an early game. The Dolphins are well-coached and off a bye, and the Rams have a bye coming up. My gut is that Miami is going to play a really good football game. They’re going to be limited with Tua, but the truth is that they at least know what Tua can do. The Rams have to look at tape from Alabama games on this. The Dolphins defense has allowed only 8.5 points per game the last two weeks, and is number three overall in the NFL. It’s a well-coached football team that is rebuilding, but still in playoff contention. I think the Rams on a short week, going East, playing early, and with a quarterback they have no idea what they’re getting, will get upset. Miami wins 27-26 and Tua looks OK. He won’t be the story, the Rams playing poorly will be the story.”
Colin's pick: Miami +4
Titans at Bengals (SPREAD: TEN -6.5)
“I’ll take Tennessee -6.5. Cincinnati has some injuries this week and they’re kind of falling apart. A week ago we thought that Tennessee might be the best team in the league, but because they lost to the Steelers they’re not a touchdown favorite to Cincinnati? The Titans are the fourth highest scoring team in the NFL. They do EVERYTHING, they run and they throw, and Ryan Tannehill leads the NFL with a passer rating over 115. The Bengals defense is BAD, getting worse, and is now injured. They’ve allowed Baker Mayfield and Philip Rivers the last two weeks to have season highs in touchdowns. Well-coached teams like Tennessee that lose in big national TV games usually play excellent and focused football the following week. I think the Titans win going away, 38-24.”
Colin's pick: Tennessee -6.5
Colts at Lions (SPREAD: IND -3)
“I like the Colts here -3 and here’s the reason. We’ve always say we like really good coaches off a bye. Not all coaches win off a bye, but good coaches do. Frank Reich off a bye is 2-0 in his career, and he gets a Detroit team who was outplayed for most of the game versus Atlanta. The Colts offense has allowed six sacks all year. They run the football and protect their quarterback, and their defense is excellent. The Lions playing at home doesn’t matter, they’ve lost six straight home games. Detroit is really bad against the run, and that’s what the Colts want to do this weekend – take the ball out of Philip Rivers’ hands. I think this is a fairly low scoring game so it will be around the number, but I’m going to take the Colts to win 27-20.”
Colin's pick: Indianapolis -3
Chargers at Broncos (SPREAD: LAC -3.5)
“I’m actually going to take Denver +3.5 here with the hook. The reality is that Justin Herbert is really talented but he’s never gone to play in that altitude. Vic Fangio is one of the best defensive minds in football, and Denver has all sorts of talent. This feels like the season for the Broncos. Their defense since Week 4 has actually been really good, and is top 5 in everything. The Chargers’ wins are over the Bengals and the Jags. I like Justin Herbert a lot, but this is a rookie quarterback without a preseason, and with only a handful of starts against a very good defensive coordinator, and against a defense the last several weeks who has been playing really good football. I’m going to take the Broncos to win 28-27 in a little bit of an upset.”
Colin's pick: Denver +3.5
49ers at Seahawks (SPREAD: SEA -3)
“It’s funny, I’m from Seattle but rarely pick the Seahawks to win. If not for a goofy personal foul call last week, they beat Arizona. This is a really good football team and they outplayed the Cardinals. Jamal Adams finally comes back and that’s really good for Seattle. The Niners are falling apart, and this Seattle offense is as good as it’s ever been. The Seahawks offensive line is much better than people thought, and it’s a top 15 offensive line. We thought it was a weakness but it is not. Seattle is getting healthier and getting Jamal Adams back, and San Francisco is falling apart. Deebo Samuel, and two other running backs will be out for the 49ers. A couple of weeks ago the Niners beat the Rams and I felt there was a sense of urgency there, and Seattle does not want to lose two in a row in this division. I think they come back and play one of their best games of the year. I like Seattle to win and cover at home 28-21.”
Colin's pick: Seattle -3)
