Cam Newton's Days as an NFL Quarterback Are Over

Doug Gottlieb: “Cam Newton is DONE. He cannot accurately throw a football well enough… This guy threw for 34 yards on Monday Night Football… Some of these guys are just not that good at their job. People during the offseason were asking why the Chargers weren’t engaged with Cam Newton –--- because he had two shoulder surgeries, and when they evaluated the tape, much like other teams in the league, they were like ‘yeah, that guy can’t throw a football right anymore.’… Ron Rivera got to Washington, traded for Kyle Allen, has complete control of football operations, and he doesn’t reach out for Cam Newton. What does that tell you? It means he can’t play anymore, that’s all. We all have this finite amount of time in which we can play.”
Jason McIntyre: “He had a good run, but it’s OVER. The guy turns 32 in May, and nothing in Cam Newton’s DNA says ‘I wanna be a backup, sign me up.’ He’s just too big of a personality and you can’t have that be your backup in an NFL locker room. I don’t see him in the league going forward. If he wants to transition into selling clothes or being a celebrity on social media, he can certainly do that, but his days as an NFL quarterback are over.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb and Jason McIntyre (guest-hosting The Dan Patrick Show) discuss the NFL future of embattled former MVP quarterback Cam Newton, as both Gottlieb and McIntyre not only believe that Newton’s skill sets are too shot to warrant a starting job around the league anymore, but they also think that Cam wouldn’t have the self-awareness to humble himself as a backup either.

Newton ranks just 29th in the NFL in QBR and is coming off a putrid performance on Monday Night Football where he threw for only 34 yards. Newton has rushed for 12 touchdowns but has shockingly only thrown five touchdown passes in 14 starts, with 10 interceptions.
