Colin Cowherd: “Here are my New Year’s aspirations in sports. These five things I want to happen.”
Listen to Colin Cowherd share the five things that he wants to see in the year 2021 that he thinks would make sports much better.
5. USC and Miami Become Top 10 College Football Teams Again
“Last night I was watching the Miami Hurricanes play and I was thinking to myself ‘God, I wish they were great again.’ College football was so much more fun when they were villains, when they were polarizing, and when they were obnoxious. All their players went to the NFL and were stars it felt like. You don’t have to be Bama, but the sport is very Southern and very small-town. It’s great when Green Bay can be great, and so can the Rams and Cowboys. I miss the Georgetown Hoyas when DC was a college basketball power, and not just Gonzaga and Xavier. I miss USC and Miami. They were COOL. I used to joke with Kirk Herbstreit, and he was like ‘you go to THOSE games as the Game of the Week, and you’re in the big city, the dinners are better, the parties are better – it FEELS different.' College football needs a big city or two, and Miami and LA are cooler than Tuscaloosa. And there’s nothing wrong with Tuscaloosa, but I think the sport needs USC and Miami to become top 10 college football teams again. In college football, it takes one or two recruiting classes and the right coach, and you’re back quickly. Pete Carroll turned around USC in a year.”
