Doug Gottlieb: “It's not that I’m not a Deshaun Watson fan – I AM – and my point is not that Deshaun Watsons stinks – HE DOESN’T – but based on the amount of money he makes and the perception of who he is, I know that he’s OVERRATED. If you say he’s a ‘top 5 quarterback’, where is the proof of that in regards to win and losses? Do you put every win and every loss at the feet of the quarterback? Absolutely not. But if we’re going to be critical of the Matthew Staffords of the world and the numbers he puts up despite the paucity of wins and playoff wins – wins and losses is a QUARTERBACK stat… The Texans' literally didn’t beat any of the good teams on their schedule this year. If you look at the Houston Texans’ record before he got there, 28-31, 1-2 in the playoffs in the four years before he got there, it’s virtually to the record since he’s been there. Does that mean he’s a terrible quarterback? No. Does that mean he’s a ‘good’ quarterback? Yea, I think anyone can see he’s a good quarterback. Is he a ‘great’?? Here’s what we do when there are guys that we like. When we like them we get lost in trying to be critical of things that we don’t like... Maybe it’s a Houston thing where James Harden is the ‘greatest player ever’ because of ‘numbers’… Because where I come from, which is planet Earth, the only stat that really matters is ‘did you WIN, or did you LOSE?’” The idea that all these other quarterbacks are succeeding, therefore their franchises must be better run is kind of laughable. He’s not Michael Jordan, and to this point is more Dominique Wilkins. Great numbers, looks the part, acts the part, feels like the part, but there’s something missing in the wins and losses… How is it that he's the only quarterback whose team is wildly underperforming who receives no criticism? There’s something missing there where he’s putting up all these empty stats and no one is pointing it out.” (Full Video Above)

“Deshaun Watson has almost the same exact record with the Houston Texans since he got there as opposed to the four years before he got there, including 1-2 in the playoffs before he got there, and 1-2 in the playoffs since he’s been there… Deshaun Watson is viewed by many people as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and there is no record to point that out. If you look at Aaron Rodgers, every year he’s healthy in the NFL with the exception of the year that Mike McCarthy got fired, his teams won 10 games. Same thing with Tom Brady, same thing with Drew Brees, same thing with ALL these guys… Deshaun Watson somehow gets a pass, when no other quarterback gets a pass for their win/loss record. You can sit here and pound into the table that Deshaun Watson is great and that he needs more help. Well, he might have gotten more help if he didn’t sign this gargantuan contract… Deshaun Watson is massively, MASSIVELY overrated… It’s really amazing how Teflon that dude is... Was it Bill O’Brien’s fault? Sure. It’s also Deshaun Watson’s. Deshaun Watson is NOT a top 10 quarterback. You ain’t no top 10 quarterback at 4-11.”
