ESPN Announcer Says Jalen Hurts/Nate Sudfeld Fallout Rivals 1919 Black Sox

“Sal Paolantonio: “Last night was game number 256 and it was supposed to be a celebration of the end of the regular season and a pandemic... And also of the greatness of Ron Rivera coming back from cancer to win the division, and the greatness of the struggle of Alex Smith having 17 leg surgeries -- was possibly going to lose his leg, his career, and perhaps his life -- comes back and wins the game, but instead we’re talking about THIS… If I’m the NFL and I’m Roger Goodell, I’m putting my Kenesaw Mountain Landis pants on right now, and I’m doing a forensic investigation of what went down… People have a right to know what happened, and it’s worth the time of the league to find out what happened.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to ESPN NFL reporter Sal Paolantonio vent on The Dan Patrick Show why he thinks NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should go full ‘Kenesaw Mountain Landis’ on the Philadelphia Eagles and begin a ‘forensic investigation’ into their bizarre Sunday Night Football quarterback switch.

Landis, of course, was the former MLB Commissioner during the early 1900s who was responsible for banning 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson, and the rest of his Chicago White Sox teammates for the infamous 'Black Sox' cheating scandal to fix the 1919 World Series.

On the 2020 season NFL finale on Sunday Night Football, The Eagles mysteriously benched rookie Jalen Hurts at the end of the third quarter during a three-point game in favor of irrelevant third-stringer Nate Sudfeld, who had only attempted two passes since 2017.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson after the game said that he wanted to get Sudfeld some reps, and further 'evaluate' him, adding that he was trying to win the football game, but it was hard to buy into the reality of a former sixth-round pick with zero hype needing to be immediately evaluated during a game with playoff implications for a hated rival, and a chance to end their season on national television.
