Dan Patrick isn’t surprised by the fallout last night from Capitals RW Tom Wilson’s antics on Monday. He thinks it felt like old school hockey with the Rangers reacting to Wilson’s bush league behavior, and that’s as it should be. Dan reminds us that there is an etiquette to fighting in hockey that Wilson clearly broke and the repercussions were felt during a first period filled with more than 70 penalty minutes, including three fights right at the opening faceoff.
Dan Patrick:“The Rangers and Capitals: it felt like old school hockey last night…What (Tom) Wilson did was wrong on Monday night. Like, if you fight, you fight. Because you see these guys, when they get ready to square off…there is an etiquette to that. Not, ‘Hey, somebody’s down on the ice, face down, I’m gonna grab your hair or I’m gonna punch you into the ice.’ And Tom Wilson did that on Monday night. And then, here is the fallout.”
