Unlike many, Doug Gottlieb wasn’t surprised to hear Cam Newton had been cut from the Patriots. He reminds us that Cam simply isn’t a very good quarterback anymore and, with Mac Jones proving his worth during the preseason, the Pats were finally able to kick Cam to the curb. It wasn’t about his attitude or refusal to get a COVID vaccination, it was his deteriorating skills that led to his release. The only question that remains is whether Cam decides to retire or latch on to another NFL squad as a backup.
