Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU, seemingly in the dead of night and he has been criticized heavily for how the whole thing was handled. Doug Gottlieb takes up for Coach Kelly, reminding us that it is simply the nature of the business that required everything to go down the way it did. There really wasn’t any other option and pundits who are being critical clearly don’t truly understand how these things work in today’s college football landscape. Kelly was at the mercy of a process over which he had zero control, and shouldn’t be condemned for his behavior.
Doug Gottlieb: “When you’re a coach, or when you’re ANYBODY who leaves your job, you are not supposed to say anything...and (Brian Kelly) was on the road recruiting. And by the way, that’s why this process has to be done quickly.”
