Loss to Bengals Drastically Shifts the Narrative on Patrick Mahomes

In the video above, Chris Broussard & Rob Parker react to what they witnessed in the Cincinnatti Bengals upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. After the way Patrick Mahomes performed in that loss, Rob Parker thinks there's going to be a major shift in the narrative of Mahomes going forward.

Rob Parker: "I thought this was narrative-changing for Patrick Mahomes from the standpoint of I think people walked around saying he was the best quarterback in the league. I think people were always going to give him the benefit of the doubt, even when he played poorly. I don't think that's the case anymore. He had carte blanche because people saw the things that he did at such a young age. He was magical; he was amazing. Even you, Chris, said he was Jordan-esque. You couldn't help yourself. This is one of the reasons why I always said it's just too premature. You gotta be careful. A career is a long thing. It takes a while, and there will be some setbacks before you can really tag somebody with that. It's different now because we saw flaws and there are other guys out there now. We don't know what the future holds. Before it was, 'he's gonna be at the Super Bowl and competing every year.' I don't know that anymore in the AFC with some of the other quarterbacks. Is Andy Reid gonna be there? What changes are coming? Things have changed. I think that mystique about him and how great he started has changed for people. I'm not saying people think he's a bum. I just don't think that he has the same aura or like where you thought this dude is Superman. That's been lost. I think people will now take him at face value more so than giving him the benefit of the doubt."
