On The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, Jason and Mike highlight the General Manager for the Rams, Les Snead's approach to drafting (or not drafting). The idea of a safe bet goes along way, because drafting players who can actually contribute to an NFL football team, at a high level, is not a sure thing. Jason applauds Les Snead's tactics over the years trading away draft picks for safe bets, or in other words, players who have a track record.
Jason Smith: "Going out and getting a guy we know is going to be good and can be plugged into the offense, yea that works. The draft has been overrated for a long time, and the Rams are finally saying, 'Hey, now we are going to show you.' Now, the Rams win it and it's, 'Oh, maybe the Rams know what they're doing in this go for it mode.' And now they're wearing it on t-shirts, I kind of like that."
