NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He talks about his upbringing around cars and whether racing is actually in his (or anyone’s) DNA. They get into an interesting discussion about flipping the bird on the track and how it’s different than any other scenario. And he weighs in on the Washington Commanders new team name and says he has no interest in becoming an owner because he loves just being a fan.
Dan Patrick: “Are drivers made? Are you born a driver, or do you become a driver?”
Dale Earnhardt Jr.: “I think it depends. I think if your family raced, like mine did, it’s common to hear people say, ‘Man, you were born into this.’ And you really are. You are what you’re exposed to, right? So, if you’re born in an environment, you’re kind of infected with that passion and you’re steered to be interested in certain things that you’re exposed to. So, if you grew up around racing, there’s a race shop in the backyard and there’s racecars around all the time, yeah, you’re born into it...”
