Sportico.com reports the national revenue for the NFL in 2021 came in at roughly $11 billion, in what could be argued to be a slow year for the league. Friday on 2 Pros and a Cup for Joe, Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington take a look at what drives those costs and how Roger Goodell can reach his goal of $25B/year.
Brady Quinn: "Gambling is the biggest thing still. That's the part that's still out there that they're looking at trying to figure out how to continue to keep driving that forward to get to that number."
Jonas Knox: "I think what launched it was fantasy football. That really was the bridge to gambling and it took off into another stratosphere... I think it just helped set everybody in the direction of, you can monetize this in another way than just ticket sales, beer sales and commercials. You can keep the game going when the game's not going and I think that had a lot to do with it."
LaVar Arrington: "Fantasy football totally changed the game. It decentralized the fan. It trumps in a lot of way the fan base, like you will find yourself rooting for a player on a team that you wouldn't even consider liking."
Brady Quinn: "It's made them watch longer... They're making their way. There's no doubt."
