Today on the Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, Jason and Mike discuss the Knicks giving a Monday night deadline to the Utah Jazz on negotiations to acquire Donovan Mitchell. The deadline passed and the Knicks ended up giving RJ Barrett a $120 million dollar extension. Jason says while Barrett is a good ascending player, he doesn’t understand Leon Rose’s motive behind putting a deadline on potentially getting a top-10 player in the NBA.
Jason Smith: “I don’t understand the Knicks saying we have to put a deadline on getting Donovan Mitchell. Getting a superstar is something that needs more work, and if it gets frustrating you give it time. Never underestimate the Knicks’ ability to screw things up!”
