The first College Football Playoff selection committee rankings of the season were released. Tennessee was number one, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, and Alabama. 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe with Jonas Knox and Brady Quinn explain how the Playoff Committee has already guaranteed 2 SEC teams in the final four as long as they hold up their end of the bargain.
Brady Quinn: "There is no doubt the SEC gets two teams in. The college football playoff committee has already told you that. Look at the possibilities and look at the rankings. In this scenario, you're gonna have a one loss Georgia or Tennessee team that doesn't go to the SEC championship. The winner of this week's game will go, most likely as an undefeated team, and even if they lose to Bama, and Bama wins the SEC, you're gonna have your pick to a one loss, not division, not conference champ in Tennessee or Georgia that either lost in the SEC championship game, or lost this week. But that's it, and that SEC champ if Bama wins it.
So think about that, no matter what, you're gonna have three teams in the mix for two of those four spots, in my opinion."
Jonas Knox: "And whether it's Tennessee or Georgia sitting at one, if Bama beats them, Bama jumps into the top four and then you get to see how they finagle the matchups, because you know they don't want to turn around and have that rematch like last year."
