Jason Smith: "In all other sports, when you are performing poorly, you do not get the chance to bounce back from failure. If you're a quarterback and you throw 3 picks in a game, the next chance you'll get to bounce back from that will be in a week. And are you really going to throw 4 touchdowns and fix everything in a week? But baseball is predicated on how every day is a clean slate. Baseball is not about failure as much as it's about how it gives you the chance to move on from failure and reinvent yourself and get a fresh start and clear your head more so than any other sport. Because here is Domingo German, who has had chance after chance to get going. He's 30 years old, he's had issues, but here he is still getting a chance to play. In football or basketball, his career would be over by now. But in baseball, you keep getting chances, and you get to have nights like tonight where it all magically works for you. Baseball always gives you that chance to move on from failure. No other sport does that."
