USC Needs to Be Gutted Down to the Studs

The USC Trojans have lost a couple of games in a row now and Doug Gottlieb isn’t terribly surprised that they are starting to show cracks in their foundation. Much like a house that has been flipped quickly, they look pretty, but start showing wood rot and leaks after only a couple of years. The Trojans need to address some foundational issues as they head to the Big Ten next season.

Doug Gottlieb: ”A lot of times you live in a ‘quick-flip’ and then year 2 you’re like; how come there’s wood rot. How come this is leaky? How come this isn’t perfect? Because you’re not buying a brand new house, you’re buying one that was flipped! That’s what’s happened to USC. You got them looking all pretty, you got them winning games, you got Caleb Williams, he wins the Heisman Trophy, you’re feeling good about yourself, you’re still going to win 10/11 games, but the offensive line isn’t as good, the defense still stinks, a lot of holes in it. Because the only way to do it right is to do it yourself, is to gut it to the studs, and start over.”
