Los Angeles Chargers President John Spanos said in a news conference that there are “no limitations” in their search for a new head coach and Doug translates exactly what that means. It means they aren’t planning on hiring some scrub assistant coach but instead will look for a proven commodity and will likely overpay whomever they find. They’ve spent years trying to look smart and frugal, but it sounds like the purse strings are finally wide open.
Doug Gottlieb: “Saying that there’s no limitations means we’re not hiring an assistant coach. We’re hiring somebody really expensive and we’re going to overpay them to help fix our problems because we think we’re awesome and we think we’re a coach away.”
