On the 10-year anniversary of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, the guys react to the New England Patriots mutually parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick. Jason is convinced that at the core of all the Patriots' issues the past few years, lies one simple thing that ultimately led to Belichick's downfall.
Jason Smith: "There's lots of reasons for this divorce, but Belichick would still be the head coach of the Patriots if he had done one thing: gotten the quarterback right... The insanity that happened after Brady left was just like, Belichick, what are you doing?... Bringing Cam Newton in?... And then you draft Mac Jones, he has an okay rookie year, but then he backslides a ton because you decide to have your former defensive coordinator be your offensive coordinator... [The point is] he got the quarterback wrong because he blew it with the quarterback. You have to understand, how do I put [Jones] in the best position to succeed?... And he didn't do that. Sorry, Bill, this is the modern NFL player now, and you have to understand how to coach them."
