Jason McIntyre Doubles Down on Cam Newton Diss After Newton Calls Him Out

Jason McIntyre: “Cam Newton went on his podcast and called Brock Purdy, Tua, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott ‘game managers.’ At the time, Brock Purdy was the MVP leader and Dak Prescott was up there, and I came on here and was like ‘Dak and Cam Newton kind of have similar stats here...’ I wasn’t meant to denigrate Cam Newton but the numbers say Dak has had a better career than Cam. It’s a fact. A lot of people came after me but Cam Newton was silent. He was the smart one and was laying in the cut waiting and waiting... Dak has a bad playoff game and Cam is coming after my neck.”

Watch Jason McIntyre, guest-hosting for Colin Cowherd on The Herd, respond to former NFL quarterback Cam Newton after Newton fired back this week at McIntyre’s segment last month that had called Newton out for labeling players the likes of Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and Tua Tagovailoa as ‘system quarterbacks.’

McIntyre took exception to Newton calling Dak a ‘system quarterback’, saying that Dak has had a better career than Newton, and using career statistics to show just that.

After Dallas’ humiliating NFC Wild Card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers last week, Newton thought it was a good time to revisit McIntyre’s endorsement of Prescott, who has still never advanced past the Divisional Round of the playoffs during his seven-year career.

Here was McIntyre's controversial take on Newton’s ‘system quarterback’ comments last month:

Jason McIntyre: “What Cam Newton did this week was go after some quarterbacks. He went after Jared Goff, Tua Tagovailoa, and then MVP favorites Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott. First of all, I don’t know why he’s dressed like a conductor from ‘Thomas the Train’. Cam that’s an interesting outfit. That being said, boy, ‘game manager’ sure sounds very coded does it not? Tom Brady was a ‘game manager’ for what, the first ten years of his career until he got Randy Moss? 'Game manager' sounds very coded for ‘unathletic.’ He goes on to say in that podcast that Lamar Jackson is a ‘game-changer’, Patrick Mahomes, a ‘game-changer’... But those other guys he mentioned?... Listen, if you wanna be dumb and go after Brock Purdy who undeniably is the MVP of the league this year... I mean, if you look at the stats, Brock Purdy is your guy. You wanna bag on Jared Goff, go off, King, I don’t know care. If you wanna bag on Tua, that’s fine, I’m not a huge Tua guy. But you’re taking shots at Dak Prescott THIS year, Cam? Cam Newton, you had a worse career than Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott has had a better NFL career than Cam Newton. Let’s just take a glance at the stats, Dak Prescott vs. Cam Newton. And, oh, by the way, Dak is going to be in the league for at least another 6-7 years, health pending, because he is going to age gracefully in this league, and he’ll know how to hold a clipboard and be a backup as opposed to being a show-stopper like Cam Newton was. Look at the numbers – is it not shocking to you that Dak has had a better career than Cam? Cam won an MVP, went to a Super Bowl, but the numbers don’t lie. Cam Newton never had back-to-back winning seasons. Cam Newton was a STAR but was he a great quarterback? His peak was outstanding but Dak Prescott has had a better career, and it was more consistent than Cam Newton. You’re not really great until you’re consistent. Dak has been tremendous this year, you can’t knock him, and for Cam to go on a podcast and say ‘Dak, you’re a game manager’, it just feels a little disrespectful.” (Full Segment Above)
