Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark announced she will forego her final year of college eligibility and declare for the WNBA Draft. Doug thinks it’s the wrong move for the current face of women’s sports. She is getting more publicity in college than she’s likely to enjoy as a professional and she can still make money with the current NIL rules. She’s giving up another year of fame and fun in college for a career of relative obscurity in the WNBA.
Doug Gottlieb: “I commend (Caitlin Clark) on knowing when she’s done, on cutting it. I think it makes the records a lot more valid; all that stuff. But, man, I don’t know. Another year in college, making a bunch of money, America’s guest, sold out arenas: sounds kinda cool to me.”
