Doug Gottlieb was as impressed as anyone by Caitlin Clark’s rise to fame and the spotlight she shone onto women’s college basketball but he isn’t convinced that she will be able to do the same thing for the WNBA. Apparently that’s not good enough for WNBA fans who expect everyone to jump on the bandwagon and celebrate their sport regardless. While things are looking up, there’s no need to act like women’s hoops should be the top sports story every day just because they had a good run riding Clark’s coattails.
Doug Gottlieb: “WNBA fans are acting like we’re all idiots for not celebrating the sport that nobody really paid attention to, nobody really cared about for a long time. And we’re supposed to apologize for it.”
