Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV’s Fearless explain why he thinks the 2024 NFL Draft quarterback class of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix will go down as the worst quarterback class in league history.
Check out the segment above as Whitlock details why literally all six of the first-round quarterbacks will flame out in the NFL, saying we will remember 2024 Draft as the year 'people made fools of themselves.'
Jason Whitlock: “I want to be completely honest... I don't think any of these guys are going to be successful quarterbacks six years from now. Six years from now we'll be calling this the worst draft class of quarterbacks ever. People made fools of themselves. There isn't an Elway, a Marino, an Aaron Rodgers, there isn't a Brett Favre. These guys have all been over-drafted.
Six in the first 12 is not an indication of the talent, it's an indication of what the league has become. What you're going to see early on -- some of these guys are going to have success and they're going to look like the next big thing, but over the course of time and as defenses figure things out, I just don't see any of these guys [succeeding]. They're all over-drafted. Virtually all of them wore sunglasses last night. Michael Penix is AT HOME in a sport coat wearing sunglasses -- that just rubbed me the wrong way.
But beyond that, just look at this draft. I don't think there was a linebacker taken in the first round, there was one defensive tackle taken in the first round, there wasn't a safety taken in the first round, and all it speaks to is like ‘they're turning this thing into flag football.’ Quarterbacks, edge rushers, and cornerbacks is what everybody was drafting, and a tackle to protect your quarterback. They've gutted the middle of the NFL, and these guys can get away with flicking the ball around with these little easy passes in this new NFL.
But over the long haul, are there any great quarterbacks in this group? I don't see it. Bo Nix number 12? Are you kidding me?? I know Sean Payton is a good coach, and they’re gonna dress it up and look good early, but none of these guys will be able to do it over the long haul.
There’s not a Lamar Jackson in this group, because as I sit here today, I think this is the year that the shine starts coming off of Lamar Jackson. That he’s peaked and he stole an MVP last year and everybody knows now ‘ehhh, it was kind of sketchy.’
I think these guys have a shelf-life of 4-6 years and then none of them really materialize.”
