Comedian Jeff Ross denied that seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady was angered by a joke directed at longtime New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft during his live Greatest Roast Of All-Time Netflix special Sunday (May 5) night.
Ross appeared on the Rich Eisen Show Monday (May 6) and downplayed the incident when asked by the titular host, who introduced G.R.O.A.T. host Kevin Hart Sunday night, if Brady was "pissed" when he told Ross, "don't say that s**t again," after he told a joke directed at Kraft.
"Come on, no way," Ross said while laughing. "He was having fun...Robert Kraft is like a father figure to him, he was just showing his love for Robert Kraft and Robert Kraft loved it, we had a great talk afterwards and he was so happy that I gave him a shoutout and a salute. It was beautiful."
Ross, who entered the arena wearing a bloody No. 32 football jersey that included the name 'Roast J Simpson' on the back and black gloves, referencing late Pro Football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson's double-murder accusations, recounted the famous first interaction between Brady, a sixth-round pick, and Kraft during the quarterback's initial training camp with the Patriots in 2000 and referenced Kraft's 2019 arrest for soliciting prostitution in a Florida massage parlor, which resulted in charges against him being dropped.
"On the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft's office and said, 'I'm the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?" Ross said.
Brady then stood up and approached Ross, attempting to whisper, "don't say that s**t again," which was picked up by the microphone being used by Ross as he attempted to praise Kraft after the joke.
Brady was, otherwise, a good sport during the more than 3-hour long roast, which covered several controversial topics including his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen and her new relationship with her jiu-jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente, his $30 million losses in Crypto.com, the Patriots' alleged involvement in the Spygate and Deflategate controversies, and his relationship with longtime head coach Bill Belichick, who also participated in the roast.
