Chris and Rob react to the Mavericks' win over the Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. After watching Minnesota superstar Anthony Edwards struggle by his usual standards, Rob begs NBA fans and media alike to pump the brakes on the narrative that the 22-year-old is already ascending into the face of the league.
Rob Parker: "People wanna crown the Ant Man as face of the NBA... I'm here to say pump the brakes! Anthony Edwards is not the face of the NBA. He's a tremendous player, his team is having a fantastic run... I'm not writing them off and I'm not writing him off. But let's just deal with the facts, not the feelings. We understand you want an American to be [the face of the league], but the facts remain: he's now had under 20 points in four of his last six games. And the big Game 7 [against Denver]? A no-show offensively. [Shooting] 6 of 24 is not a big-time performance in a big game... The rhetoric and the love affair with Ant do not match the stat sheet."
