Chris Broussard and Ephraim Salaam (in for Rob Parker) react to the news that the Lakers are set to hire JJ Redick as their next head coach. While not completely out on the hire, Chris questions whether LA really is a favorable situation for Redick to be walking into for his first-ever NBA coaching gig. If he doesn't find immediate success in this era of instant coffee, is he long for the job?
Chris Broussard: "The Lakers are expected to compete for the championship... I don't think they're good enough to win a championship. It's very possible that they actually take a step backwards -- remember, LeBron and AD were unusually healthy last year. What if they [do] take a step back?... Is JJ Redick going to survive that? Because 'championship or bust' when you really don't have a great chance of winning a championship is a tough situation to be in [for a head coach]."
