Jason Smith: "I'm not someone who is always calling for people to get fired, but there needs to be a change. Gregg Berhalter has to go. It's been 4 years of 'it looks like we're going in the right direction,' and we're not. You know the players are good, and if you keep Berhalter, you run the risk of getting more of the same. This is 4-plus years of the United States being 'hey, maybe we're good.' And if you're 'maybe we're good' and you're not, then it's time for a new direction. I don't know if the next manager will work, but I know this way is not working. You can see it with the players, you can see the frustration. They run the risk of the program getting into a rut, and the apathy will set in, and it is hard coming back from that."
Jason Smith and Steve DeSaegher react to the US Men's National Team failing to make it out of the Group Stage at Copa America. Jason explains why it is time to make a change at management, as the 4-plus years of disappointment under Gregg Berhalter puts the program into crisis mode 2 years out from the 2026 World Cup hosted on American soil.
