The US Men’s National Soccer Team was eliminated from Copa América in the group stage after losing to Uruguay yesterday and the long promised emergence of the US soccer as a prominent international program is again on hold. We keep hearing that the talent is far superior to any squads from the past but they continue to underachieve. Dan Beyer & Monse Bolaños are in for Doug Gottlieb today and they are struggling to wrap their heads around our inability to field a competitive team in the world’s most popular sport.
Dan Beyer: “It feels like we have been in neutral since Eric Wynalda and the 1994 American team broke through when the World Cup was in the United States.”
Monse Bolaños: “We keep hearing that this is a talented team that should be able to get further than we have in 20 years and then they fall flat on their faces.”
