Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese Were Selected to the WNBA All-Star Game

Rookies Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky were selected to the 12-player Team WNBA that will face the USA Basketball women's national team at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game on July 20 ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the league announced on Tuesday (July 2).

Clark, 22, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, and Reese, 22, the No. 7 overall pick, are the only rookies and first-time All-Stars selected to appear in the upcoming All-Star Game. The two rookies' collegiate rivalry played a key role in the sudden spike in women's basketball's popularity and both are in consideration for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

"I don't think I've ever been her teammate before, even at USA Basketball. I know people will be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn't take away from everyone else," Clark said via ESPN. "This is a huge accomplishment for everybody on Team USA and everyone on Team WNBA. They all deserve the same praise. I don't want it to take away from any of that and be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that's not fair to them."

Clark has averaged 16.0 points, 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds through her first 21 games, recording more than 300 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists faster than any player in WNBA history. Reese is averaging 13.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, having set a WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles, which was extended to 12 during Tuesday's win against the Atlanta Dream.
