Now that Bronny James is playing NBA Summer League games, experts are taking a hard look at his game and he is being criticized for not “taking over” game or being the “alpha” on the court. Doug finds this specific criticism to be completely unfair since he never really exhibited those skills at the college level. The Peter Principle states that people are generally promoted to a position one level higher than their actual ability to perform and that seems to be where Bronny finds himself, now expected to have skills he never possessed in the first place.
Doug Gottlieb: “I’ve said all along (Bronny James) should’ve to Duquesne, played for LeBron’s best friend, played a bunch of minutes, learned to become an alpha. Now we’re asking him to do something which is a different skill-set than has ever been required of him previously. He’s not that guy. This is the Peter Principle.”
