Christian McCaffrey Responded to Cam Newton's Wedding Snub Claim

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey responded to former NFL quarterback Cam Newton's claim that he was snubbed from his recent wedding.

Newton, who shared a backfield with McCaffrey during the All-Pro running back's first three NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers, discussed his former teammate's publicized wedding to model and former Miss Universe contestant Olivia Culpo during a recent episode of his 4th & 1 podcast, joking that he was "bitter" about not receiving an invitation, which was shared as a clip on the show's Instagram account. McCaffrey responded to the post claiming he shared a conversation with former Panthers tight end turned FOX Sports analyst Greg Olsen -- Newton's teammate for nine seasons -- at the wedding and expressed his dismay about the former NFL MVP's absence, claiming Newton hadn't returned his text messages "in four years."

“Me: *Talking to Greg at the bar ‘This was a great night, but you know what would’ve made it even better?’
“Greg: ‘What?’ Me: ‘If Cam were here. I haven’t got a text back in 4 years. In fact, they just go green now.’
“Greg: *Takes sip of whiskey ‘He would’ve loved it… 4 years? Even on Instagram.
“Me: ‘Only once on there but that don’t count” (Insert laugh track). *He orders another round while they both sit in silence for 30 seconds.
“Christian: ‘Why don’t he love me man?’
“*Camera cuts to highlights of Cam and Christian together while ‘With Arms Wide Open’ by Creed plays. Scene.”

Newton commented back to McCaffrey with "what number do you have? (share it here) -- love." The former Heisman Trophy winner initially speculated that his public analysis of 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who did attend the wedding, was a possible cause for his exclusion.

“Look, damn, C Mac, I couldn’t get an invite? Is it because of the Brock Purdy beef? Was Brock there?” Newton joked.

Newton had famously referred to Purdy as a "game manager" during the 2023 season, which resulted in the 49ers clinching a Super Bowl berth.
