An Embarrassment of Riches for Team USA Men’s Basketball

Kevin Durant returned to the court for Team USA in a rout against Serbia yesterday and dropped 23 points, leading the way in their opening game of the Olympics, but the only thing anybody wants to talk about is Jayson Tatum riding the pine for the entire 40 minutes. While many seem upset that Tatum didn’t get into the game, Dan thinks it simply illustrates the abundance of talent on the roster. When they blow a top ranked team in international hoops without even using one of their best players, it must be demoralizing for the rest of the competition.

Dan Patrick: “It’s an embarrassment of riches that they have. It’s a luxury that you have one of the best players in the game who doesn’t even play, which is kind of an ominous feel I would think for the competition. You’re going to face Team USA (and) they don’t even need Jayson Tatum.”
