The Yankees Are Scared of Their Own Shadow

Jason Smith: “This is so on brand for the Yankees, they are scared of almost every potential big trade or transaction. Juan Soto was dumped in their lap, but everything else, the Yankees have driven to the middle. The Yankees of the last 5 years, they’re a politician who has driven themselves right down the middle. The Yankees have decided that they don’t want to do anything!” 
Mike Harmon: “We watched it for the last couple years, most anybody that follows or covers baseball didn’t think Aaron Boone was coming back, but here he is! Brian Cashman has been on the warm seat, heating up the past couple of years, but as we’ve seen...Yankees ownership doesn’t like a lot of moves!” 

After news came down that the New York Yankees backed out a deal with the Detroit Tigers for starter Jack Flaherty, Jason Smith and Mike Harmon reacted to the news, confounded by the Yankees apparent fear of making a deal.
