Former Indianapolis Colts kicker and current sports media analyst, Pat McAfee joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He laments the rule changes in the NFL that now require teams to declare an onside kick and that it can only happen in the 4th quarter. He isn’t happy we’ve lost that glimmer of hope for teams that are trailing with time running out and the option to call an audible at anytime to surprise an opponent.
Pat McAfee: “I think the onside kick was something that was very special to football for a very long time. At any moment in the 4th quarter or if your team was behind, there was a glimmer of hope...The fact now that we will never see a surprise onside kick is a bummer.”
