You would think that winning every game so far in convincing fashion would make Team USA Men’s Head Basketball Coach Steve Kerr immune from criticism but he’s still getting flak for his substitution patterns. This team is expected to win the gold medal so he won’t get much credit if/when they do, but he’ll be crucified by the media if they don’t. Doug isn’t sure there’s anything Kerr can do better than he’s already doing, but it doesn’t seem to matter to his critics.
Doug Gottlieb: “It’s really easy to be critical of Steve Kerr until you understand the monumental challenge of trying to win all these games in which the only thing that can happen is bad. If you win, you don’t really get all that much adulation. If you lose, it’s the end of the world. And yet they’ve won every game going away, very, very handily, and looked good doing it, and yet (it’s) still not enough for some people.”
