The biggest story in the NFL offseason has become the saga of San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk. While the Niners have indicated their intent to trade him, it’s being reported that the Patriots are no longer pursuing the disgruntled star. Much like someone who has had their romantic overtures rebuffed, it’s much more likely that Aiyuk just doesn’t want to play in New England, so they’re acting like they never really wanted him anyway.
Dan Patrick: “If we’re dealing with semantics here; 49ers were willing to trade him to the Patriots. The Patriots were willing to make him a top-five paid wide receiver. Brandon Aiyuk, who has the final say, said, ‘I don’t want to go to New England!’ Who wants to go to New England right now? Nooobody! But Schefty (Adam Schefter) said that the Patriots were not interested in Brandon Aiyuk. Because Brandon Aiyuk is not interested in them, that’s really the story.”
