Watch Colin Cowherd of FS1's The Herd reveal his five boldest predictions for the 2024 NFL season.
Colin Cowherd: “These are my five ‘bold’ predictions. I could make ‘easy’ ones -- ‘JOSH ALLEN IS GOING TO BE GOOD!’... ‘ANDY REID WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!’... No, I don’t choose that. I’m not looking to be perfect; I’m going to take some BOLD predictions.
1. I think Dennis Allen, Saints, is the first coach to be let go. They've missed the playoffs in back-to-back years. Carolina and Atlanta in the NFC South are undoubtedly better teams. Four of the first six games for Dennis Allen are against playoff teams from last year. I just don't see the juice offensively.
2. I think Jayden Daniels, Washington, wins Offensive Rookie of the Year. Caleb Williams has better weapons so Jayden is going to have to move and run. I think that's going to play well. He's going to feel like RGIII did the first year in Washington with his legs. With all those weapons, I don't think Caleb will have to move as much. Daniels' offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury, has a reputation of being very good with mobile quarterbacks, and he was pounding the table for Jayden Daniels. I also don't think the division is as good [as the NFC North].
3. They may not win it but I think the Rams reach the NFC Championship. I don't know if they can beat Detroit or Green Bay, but Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, Matt Stafford, Sean McVay... That's a big-time offense. All their draft capital the last 2-3 years is defensive dudes upfront. They've been a top 10 scoring offense two of the three years Stafford has been there. I really like this team. No noise. San Francisco? Nothing but noise. Kyler Murray? He'll be some noise. The Rams have no noise and no expectations. I'm not saying the Rams win the conference championship, I'm saying they get there.
4. I think Jordan Love wins the MVP. The last ten starts last year he was the best quarterback in football. I think there’s voter fatigue with Lamar, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Mahomes... We want a new story. The media likes ‘stories’ and he’s fresh and he’s fun. I think the Packers are stacked offensively with an offensive coach, Josh Jacobs, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, Christian Watson... Last year, their offense at the end of the year was like ‘WHOA, WHAT DO WE GOT HERE??’... Young quarterback, generationally aligned with all his young receivers, tight ends, and o-linemen – I think this offense is MAGIC this year.”
5. I think Dallas narrowly misses the playoffs. They have the quietest and least talented running back room in the league, and when Dak Prescott has to throw over 40 times he's 8-18 in his career. The NFC is better than it's been the last 2-3 years. The NFC is tougher, he has no run-game, and if they don't sign CeeDee Lamb they're not only going to miss the playoffs, they may not have the same coach by mid-October. They were quiet in free agency and I don't see a ton of depth."
