Steelers Don’t Want to Bruise Russell Wilson’s Feelings

It looks like Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson will get a significant amount of playing time in their final preseason game this weekend against the Detroit Lions as their offense continues to struggle. While it appears HC Mike Tomlin is going to stick with Wilson as the opening game starter, Justin Fields has closed the gap and is vying for the job. Dan’s sources tell him the Steelers may just be starting Wilson to assuage his ego and are fully prepared to move on to Fields if Russ doesn’t improve.

Dan Patrick: “You’re trying to figure out who your quarterback is at this point? Or maybe they have. I was told a couple of weeks ago that they will go with Russell Wilson because it’s easier to go with Russ and then bring Justin Fields in from the bullpen, not the other way around. And I was told by a source; Russ will have bruised feelings.”
