Jason Whitlock: Caitlin Clark is Turning Into an Unlikeable, Whiny Flopper

Jason Whitlock: “The Indiana Fever assigned Caitlin Clark a group of babysitters. Her teammates are tasked with trying to prevent the petulant and entitled WNBA star from bickering with referees. It's not working. ‘Ponytail Pete Maravich’, the biggest star in American sports, is transforming into ‘crying Caitlin Clark’, an unlikable, flopping, whiner who plays with a victim mentality.
Sunday afternoon in front of another sellout crowd in Indianapolis, Clark scored a season-high 35 points and moved past Seimone Augustus for the most points scored in a season for a WNBA rookie. The Fever won the game 110-109, securing their 20th victory of the season and locking up the six seed in the playoffs. But more importantly, Clark finished the game without picking up her seventh technical foul, which would have resulted in a suspension for the regular season finale against the Washington Mystics on Thursday. But in reality, Clark's babysitters actually failed. Her star power stopped the refs from teeing her up on Sunday. Clark spent the entire game flailing her arms, flopping to the ground at the slightest contact, and fussing at game officials. She put the referees in an impossible position and she knew it.
That’s how Clark spent most of the game against the Las Vegas Aces too – fussing and bickering with the referees constantly and throwing tantrums. It’s annoying and it’s every single game she’s like this. It’s driving me crazy. I’ve watched every Caitlin Clark game this season and bought the WNBA League Pass, and purchased Caitlin Clark jerseys. Caitlin Clark has been my favorite athlete the last two years but she’s worn me out. The whining, the complaining, the flopping, the victimhood, the tongue-wagging, the hyper-focus on engaging with fans and arguing with referees. I can’t take it.
She plays an exciting, stat-stuffing, low IQ brand of basketball. Yes, I said it. I fell in love with Caitlin Clark but I can’t take the dumb basketball. If Taylor Swift and LeBron James had a baby, he or she would play basketball just like Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark is who basketball fans pretended Mike Krzyzewski’s White Duke basketball players were. Everybody took a dump on them and called him spoiled, petulant, and entitled. It was all mostly a lie and a gimmick, but none of them came close to behaving the way Caitlin Clark does on a nightly basis. The actual ‘spoiled and entitled’ Duke player is Caitlin Clark. Talented and fun to watch, but spoiled and entitled, and it’s driving me crazy.
I thought Caitlin Clark’s on-court behavior would improve and she would become less bratty. Instead, things have gotten much worse. She whines and complains every game about everything. One of the main reasons she shattered the WNBA record for turnovers. No player before this season had ever recorded more than 137 turnovers in a season. She has 220. In a 40-minute WNBA game, she has a chance to equal James Harden’s NBA record of averaging 5.7 turnovers per game, and NBA games are 48 minutes.
She’s sloppy with the basketball because she wastes too much energy monitoring the referees. She’s trying to control things that she can’t control. You Caitlin Clark lovers blame her teammates for her high turnover rate but it’s not true. There are occasional examples of Clark’s teammates mishandling passes, but the truth is that Clark frequently gets her dribble picked and throws into coverage like Jameis Winston.
Her lack of emotional control, high turnovers, victim attitude, poor shot selection, and lazy defense are why I expect the Fever to exit the playoffs in the first round.”

Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV’s Fearless discuss why he’s pulled a 180 on Caitlin Clark, as Whitlock explains how Clark went from his favorite athlete in sports to an ‘unlikeable and whiny brat’ that is devoid of self-awareness.

Check out the segment above as Whitlock details why he thinks Clark’s Indiana Fever are going out first round, and why Clark’s sloppy basketball is directly tied to her insufferable attitude.
