Oregon's Win Over Ohio State May Force a Rule Change in College Football

Dan Patrick: "They've got 10 seconds to go in the game and Oregon puts a 12th man out there knowing they're going to be flagged 5 yards. Ohio State runs a play, the time goes off the clock, they don't reset that. Basically you're saying 'you can run that play, we're going to flag them for 12 men on the field.' It's only 5 yards. You have an extra guy, you make sure they don't get a big play. It penalizes Ohio State, because now they're down to 6 seconds and you're trying to get into field goal range. Mark my words: this rule will be changed."

Dan Patrick reacts to Oregon narrowly beating Ohio State in a thriller this past Saturday. Dan explains how Dan Lanning, potentially unknowingly, used a penalty to his advantage in this closing seconds of the fourth quarter and breaks down why college football will be quick to mend this loophole for defenses.
