Dan Patrick: "What was your interpretation of the 12th man penalty, and was it on purpose?"
Dan Lanning: "I know what answers we're looking for here, but I've got my dancing shoes on this morning, so I'm not going to get in depth on strategy..."
Dan Patrick: "Why?! I thought it was brilliant coaching!"
Dan Lanning: "I've paid attention to a lot of situations like that. I always think about the 49ers-Ravens Super Bowl, and the holding penalty at the end of the game to run the clock out. I think as defensive coaches, you're always trying to find ways to take advantage of the rules that exist. We have an unbelievable staff. We spend a lot of time on a lot of different situations. When things are in place, you want to try to take advantage of them. But I've asked my staff, I've asked our players, 'we're on a short week this week, we got Purdue this week, let's move on to Purdue.' So I've challenged myself to do the same thing. But I expected you to ask about it, for sure."

Oregon HC Dan Lanning joins The Dan Patrick Show! Coach Lanning admittedly dances around the question of whether or not his consequential 12th man penalty in the closing seconds of Oregon's win over Ohio State was intentional. Lanning gives insight on adjusting to cross-country travel in Oregon's first season in the Big Ten. Plus, Lanning shares the most important thing he learned from Nick Saban.
