Jason Whitlock Says 'Awful' WNBA Finals Set Women's Basketball Way Back

Watch Jason Whitlock of Blaze TV’s Fearless discuss the ‘bad product’ the WNBA delivered with its controversial series-clinching Game 5 casting a dark shadow on the Finals between the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx, as Whitlock says the combination of ‘rigged' officiating with ‘awful’ basketball could put into serious question the league’s desires to expand.

Check out the segment above as Whitlock details why the eyesore Game 5 set the sport back, saying that the WNBA is the ‘worst-run league in the history of American sports’, and a woke wasteland that Caitlin Clark shouldn’t have to suffer through while single-handedly trying to save.

Jason Whitlock: "Another thing that you’re perhaps missing is just how awful this game was. It was BAD product. Sabrina Ionescu, who complained about making the second-team All-WNBA team after Game 3, went 1/19 from the field. That’s really hard to do. In the last two games she shot 6/34 from the field. Breanna Stewart went 4/15 from the field. These people said ‘Hey, Angel Reese, hold my beer! You think YOU can’t play offense, watch what we do in Game 5’... The team that won shot 30% from the field, 2/23 from three-point range, won the game because they were sent to the free throw line 25 times and the Minnesota Lynx shot 8 free throws. Cheryl Reeve, the coach of the Minnesota Lynx, had every right to be irate. She flat-out said ‘this was stolen from us.’ Hats off to you, lady, because you’re 100% right.
They couldn’t score, they were literally exhausted. They couldn’t handle a 5-game series. And they’re expanding to a 7-game series next year. No one wants to see that. They need to thank God there was a Sunday Night Football and Major League Baseball playoff game, and that few people stuck through this or watched it. If people had watched this, it’s like ‘HOLY COW, WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE DOING WITHOUT CAITLIN CLARK??’
They dump on their meal ticket, and THIS is the product that they put out? The one woman that’s worth watching, they take a dump on her, and then they put THIS product out? And now they’re talking about more teams coming to the league? There are 12 teams, 12 players on each team... There is not 144 players to fill up the rosters they have now. That was a brutal, brutal game, and they’re expanding?? These women were exhausted. The 5-game series wore them out, and they’re going to seven. They don’t have the talent to fill up the teams right now, and the quality of play isn’t good enough. This is the worst-run sports league in the history of America. They get one gift, Caitlin Clark, and the entire league for the most part HATES Caitlin Clark, tries to diminish Caitlin Clark, tries to showcase all of these other women that people aren’t interested in, then wants to take a dump on Caitlin Clark fans and call them all ‘racist.’ This is the worst-run league in the history of American sports. Then they rig the Finals to make sure the New York Liberty can win, and the two best players on the Liberty played like hot garbage in Game 4 and Game 5.
Everyone’s eyes were bleeding after that game and Holly Rowe comes on camera and calls it a ‘beautiful game of basketball.’ 67-62 in overtime winning team shoots 30% from the field, there’s more turnovers than made baskets in the overtime, the two best players from the winning team – one is 4/15 from the field, the other is 1/19 from the field... I know Holly Rowe has got a job to do and has to say 'THIS IS HISTORY! THIS IS INCREDIBLE!', but I would have been embarrassed if I was Sabrina Ionescu or Brenna Stewart. They sent her to the line, they handed her the game, she wasn't fouled, she took six steps, the whole thing is rigged. They literally had a championship stolen from them [Minnesota Lynx] so they could complete the narrative that the New York Liberty did something great and incredible. They're always pandering to the big market elites. And you wonder why we need a rival league. Caitlin Clark deserves better than this. America deserves better than this. This is how they concluded their most-watched season -- by putting on an awful basketball display combined with some of the worst officiating I've ever seen in all of sports. It's criminal and leaves a bad taste in anyone's mouth that watched it.
They're getting you used to 'no merit' by these sports leagues. It's not about who's the best, it's about what's the best story, and the network will sell it to you, the refs will sell it to you, and no one will say a word."
