The Odd Couple: The Lakers Are Doing Bronny a Disservice

The Lakers recently announced their plan for Bronny James this season: they're sending him to the G-League, but plan to shuttle him back and forth between there and the active roster throughout the season. Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington react, questioning how serious the Lakers really are about developing the youngster if they won't let him settle in.

Kelvin Washington: "I don't get this plan. You know I was okay with the ceremonial father-son sharing the floor thing -- that didn't bother me... But this kind of bothers me. What is this? They took care of the ceremonial things, so now he's down to the G-League where he should be as he learns how to get better. Great! Go there, get better, go through the ups and downs of a season... I was down with that plan, but this plan to shuttle him back and forth? I don't quite get it."
Rob Parker: "This is why people question if the Lakers are serious about winning. This makes no sense. He's not playing while he's [on the active roster], so why is he there? How you learn to get better is by playing night in and night out! He can do that in the G-League [if you let him]!"
