Mike Harmon and Kerry Rhodes (in for Jason Smith) react to a press conference quote from Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, where he explained his reasoning for throwing a questionable challenge flag in Chicago's game against the Vikings on Sunday. The challenge wound up unsuccessful, but Eberflus stood by his decision throw the flag, citing the sole fact that it was an explosive gain for the Vikings, and therefore warranted a challenge.
Mike Harmon: "Just the basic premise of 'it was an explosive, so we've gotta challenge'... the logic of that just fails. It's the latest in a long line of 'Eberflus-isms'... he's entering Trestman territory. The Halas McCaskey family is just this side of Jerry Jones and Woody Johnson in terms of obstinance and retisence to change in a new world. It's the only reason Eberflus is still there."
Kerry Rhodes: "They're old school. They like stability. They know what stability brings, which is culture... But when it comes to the Bears, we can see that there's a coaching problem... You can't sustain a strong culture with poor coaching."
