Clay Travis: Politics Mixing With Sports Are Reason For Low TV Ratings

Clay Travis: “Why are so few people actually watching sports? It used to be that if you wanted to get a break from the serious things in life you would actually watch sports, but now sports have become politics by any other name. They did a recent Yahoo poll and the results were that nearly half of Americans changed their sports viewing habits once political and social messaging started to spread across the different sports leagues. Three times as many Americans watch sports LESS than those who watched MORE in the past year and change… Almost every league is down in some way, and what’s interesting about this is they are down at the time that sports theoretically would have been a saving grace more so than it ever has been before… The political nature of sports in this modern era has been a turn-off for the vast majority of American sports fans.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Clay Travis discuss his theory on why he thinks sports viewership has steadily declined over the last 12 months, as Clay believes the unsavory combination of sports and politics during an ultra-polarizing social media era has turned off a large portion of fans.

Check out the video above as Clay details why the American sports fan is now steadily changing their viewing habits.
