Colin Cowherd: Stop Disrespecting Underrated Jimmy Garoppolo

Colin Cowherd: “Every scout I know likes Jimmy Garoppolo, but 50% of the fans are struggling with it. Folks, he got to a Super Bowl and carried this team in the middle of the season when the fell apart physically. I’m not a ‘stat guy’, I’m an ‘eye guy’ and you need to watch the games. He’s 8th in the NFL in passer rating after losing both of his offensive tackles, losing his all-world tight end, relying on Emmanuel Sanders at wideout, playing in the toughest division in football with a brutal gauntlet of a schedule in the final two months, and yet he completed 69% of his throws for the year. That schedule was BRUTAL while Green Bay’s was Cupcake City. You’re all saying Kyle Shanahan is the reason they’re so good, but Shanahan was 4-20 without Garoppolo and 21-5 with him. What are you not seeing with this guy??” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is one of the NFL’s most underrated players, despite Garoppolo putting up Pop Warner stats in his two playoff wins.

Garoppolo completed only 6 of 8 passes for 77 yards against the Packers, after going just 11/19 for 131 versus the Vikings a week prior, yet Colin says that Garoppolo is doing exactly what he needs to do to lead a 49ers team who has the most complete team in the NFL.

Despite the laughably light numbers, Colin points to Garoppolo’s regular season stats finishing 5th in the league in completion percentage, 8th in passer rating, and 12th in QBR, for a 49ers team who finished as the no. 1 seed in the NFC.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he doesn’t understand how the average NFL fan doesn’t realize how good Garoppolo really is.
